Poynts Works was founded in 2018 by Stephanie Poynts, a young emerging architect. Poynts Works realises high quality architectural design through 3D and physical model making, with a focus on detail and materiality. The practice takes a collaborative approach to working with local communities to achieve social benefit and explore and enhance possibilities to live, work and learn.
Stephanie’s previous experience includes work at design-led office Studio Gil, Studio Egret West, and six years at MW Architects. All three practices were included in the Architecture Foundation’s New Architects 3 “Britain’s Best Emerging Practices” (2016). Stephanie currently holds a Visiting Lecturer role in the undergraduate Architecture degree course at the University of Greenwich.
In her role as Associate at MW Architects Stephanie led on all stages of a number of residential renovation projects, many of which have received acclaim including New London Architecture Don’t Move Improve awards for Cecilia Road, an author’s study and garden shower room (2014), and the ‘My House’ dining room set within an urban garden (2018). Independent Place (2017) and Liverpool Road (2018) were long-listed. Stephanie’s work at MW Architects was routinely published by Dezeen, as well as featuring in Grand Designs magazine and Evening Standard Homes & Property. Stephanie’s recent projects include a successful planning application for a new-build house in the South Downs National Park World Heritage Site.
Whilst studying in 2010 Stephanie successfully realised a winning competition entry for a Citizens Communication Pavilion at Glastonbury Festival, promoting the importance of free speech. After graduating from the University of East London with Distinction in 2011, Stephanie went on to complete her Part III qualifications in 2014.
